Whether you are using them as a livefood or clean-up crew, these isopods are a fantastic addition to your setup.
  • Great source of calcium when used as a livefood
  • A large isopod that makes a striking addition to your clean-up crew
  • Perfect for bioactive rainforest setups

Calcium Rich Livefood

Dairy Cow isopods are a large woodlouse breed that have been used both as 'cleaners' in bioactive setups as well as a livefood to be fed direct to pets to provide a fantastic source of calcium. If you want to use them as livefood it is best to provide them in a smooth sided dish like a mealworm dish or the more decorative replica bark dish to prevent them from climbing out and escaping into the enclosure.

Attractive Members Of The Clean-Up Crew
These stunning looking isopods well deserve their nicknames of dairy cows as they black and white colouring is so similar to the cows you often pass grazing in the fields of the countryside. And just like those cows, these isopods will happily munch away on the herbivorous debris of your terrarium helping to maintain a healthy bio-active setup. Supplied in a 5ml tub with a starter culture of different sizes, they are particularly well suited to the humid conditions of rainforest setups.

Woodlice Care

If you want to keep woodlice in your bio-active set up you will need to provide them with a humid area as well as drier sections of the enclosure where they can hid away under logs, bark and other decor. Whilst they will aid in cleaning up the tank by eating dead and decaying matter, they also benefit from their own insect food.
